Bayanihan in Talisay

Students, teachers, choreographers from schools and barangays in Talisay City experienced today (November 4, 2018)the discipline and creativity, the energy and artistry of the country’s national folk dance company, the Bayanihan Dance Company in a Dance Workshop held at the Carlos Hilado Memorial State College in Talisay City.
With the partnership of Congressman Alfredo Benitez and the City of Talisay through Mayor Neil Lizares, and the cooperation of Dr. Jose Francisco Benitez, Chairman of the Bayanihan Dance Company and President of the Philippine Women’s University, the workshop was conducted by Suzie Benitez, Trustee and Executive Director of the Bayanihan together with 14 top dancers and musicians of the Bayanihan Rondalla.
A total of 143 participants from all over Talisay, and also from Bacolod, Victorias, Cadiz and Kabankalan Cities attended the three-hour workshop that introduced not only the story and art of Bayanihan but demonstrated as well folk dance steps that inspired aspiring local dance talents, teachers and students.
The workshop was capped by a three-minute presentation by four workshop groups tutored by the Bayanihan team to create from the basic dance steps that was taught them.
The workshop was opened by Dr. Benitez and Talisay assistant city administrator Ismael Penado.
Tomorrow (November 5, 2018) the province-wide celebration of the Cinco de Noviembre, will be marked in Talisay City with a cultural performance of the Bayanihan at the public plaza at 6 pm, following the 4 pm ceremonies honoring the revolutionary heroes at the Gen. Aniceto Lacson Monument at Ayala North Point in Talisay City.
