Mayor Neil and First Lady Atty. Weng Lizares Extend Aid and Evaluate Flood Relief Efforts in Talisay City
Talisay City, August 29, 2023 - Mayor Neil Lizares, accompanied by First Lady Atty. Weng Lizares, conducted a personal visit to the fast relief evacuation center to assess the ongoing flood relief operation at the Talisay City Gymnasium. The center is currently accommodating evacuees from 8 barangays within the city who have been displaced due to heavy flooding caused by continuous heavy rains.
As of 5AM, the Talisay City Social Welfare and Development Officer, Dionela Madrona, has been diligently coordinating efforts to provide immediate relief to the 229 families and 777 individuals most severely affected by the flooding. With the city grappling with the aftermath of heavy downpours, the relief operation is in full swing to ensure the well-being of those displaced.
During his visit, Mayor Neil Lizares took the opportunity to interact with the affected households currently sheltered at the temporary relief center. This hands-on approach allowed him to gauge the extent of the damages caused by the flooding and to gain a better understanding of the needs and concerns of the affected families.
