Talisay City Celebrates 18-Day Violence Against Women

WOMEN'S HEALTH FORUM, VISUAL ACETIC ACID SCREENING AND FREE LEGAL CONSULTATION ALL FOR THE CELEBRATION OF THE 18 DAY VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN (VAW) CAMPAIGN IN THE CITY OF TALISAY.
More than 100 Talisaynon women gather together at the Talisay City Public Plaza to take part on the different activities spearheaded by the City Government Talisay, in cooperation with Talisay City Health Office, City Social Welfare and Development Office and WINNER still part of the 18-Day Violence Against Women Campaign.
Mayor Neil E. Lizares III in his message expressed his gratitude to everyone present, thus, the city under his leadership will continue and will always be supportive of all programs and activities whose advocacy is to carry out support to ending violence against women and children.
Three simultaneous activities are being held, first is the Health Forum where Dr. Cheryl Exmundo expounded and provided the attending public insights and information about Cervical Cancer. At the Senior Citizen's Pavillion is the Free Legal Consultation given by City Administrator Atty. Jonathan Ealdama, together with Atty. Marigold Chuatico, Atty. Cheryl Ledesma -Despi and Atty. Julie Bedrio. While in the City Health Office is the conduct of Free Visual Acetic Acid Screening to be conducted by City Health Officer Dr. Joy Gladys Guanzon, Dr. Madeline Madeline Cabarrubias, Dr. Cheryl Exmundo and the nurses and midwives of Talisay City Health.
Talisay City Health doctors, nurses and midwives have undergone training on how to perform Visual Acetic Acid Screening yesterday, (December 6, 2017) at the Natures Village Resort, conducted by Obstetricians from Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital.
Success of today's activities were made possible through the combined support and efforts of the City Government of Talisay through Mayor Neil Lizares III, Talisay City Health Office's nurses, midwives, personnel and staff headed by Dr. Joy Gladys Guanzon, and the Office of the Gender and Development focal person Farah Jayme, Barangay nutrition scholars, Barangay Health workers and barangay officials from the different barangays in the city.
Sangguniang Panlungsod Member and Chairman of the Committee on Women and Children, RJ Tuvilla, City Adminstrator Jonathan Ealdama and Asst. City Administrator Ismael Penado attended the opening program and Health Forum.
