THE Bacolod Real Estate Development Corp. (Bredco), through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP), is eyeing a 2,000-hectare reclamation project in Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
Talisay City Mayor Nilo Jesus Antonio Lizares on Monday, July 24, said he and Vice Mayor Samuel Siote and the members of the City Council are set to hold a preliminary meeting with the Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA).
“Our first step is to address the PPP ordinance,” Lizares said, adding that this will be followed by the initial meeting with Bredco executives.
He said the reclamation project will be for “mixed use,” including for industrial purposes. Since it’s a PPP project, there will be an area for the city government’s utilization, he added.
Lizares said he is thankful to Third District Representative Alfredo Benitez for bringing in investors to the city.
The reclamation project will boost the economy of Talisay and fast track development, the mayor said.
Earlier, Lizares and Benitez met with Alberto Agra, chairman of the PRA Board, in Bacolod.
The PRA has a joint undertaking with Bredco and the City of Bacolod, which is an 108-hectare reclamation area for commercial and industrial uses.
